Injured Infant

    PC not moving his left leg
    PMH: NVD @ 39/40, no special care, bottle fed, possible reflux, some feeding difficulties

    Hx
    Noticed to be crying last night
    This morning unsettled, and not moving left leg

    SH
    Lives with mother & father, 18 & 19y/o
    No social support

  • o/e looks well, gaining weight along 9th centile, length on 25th centile
    Not moving left leg, cries when touched, some soft tissue swelling

  • Left femur

  • Left spiral femur fracture, high suspicious for NAI

  • Spiral fracture:
    - analgesia, admission, immobilization
    NAI
    - MANDATORY reporting to child protection, further information gathering & consultation

  • Child Abuse
