Get plastered!

My first experience with plaster was as an eight year old having broken my arm. My second experience was in the first few days of medical school at an orientation night called ‘Get plastered’. You can guess what happened.

Since then, it is a skill that has needed to be mastered.

Applying plaster (to real patients) is a technical skill that is core to emergency medicine. Done poorly, leads to patient harm and dissatisfaction. It is variably taught in medical schools and as a junior doctor in the UK, it’s often outside of normal practice.
