Rosters are emailed and posted on ED intranet. There is also a link on the menu bar at the top of this page
The roster is a live document - there may be small changes after it is emailed so please check the live roster (you will be notified if your shifts are significantly affected)
Please check the roster when published and alert the roster coordinator if there is an error - it is essential the hours rostered reflect your contracted hours for each fortnight
You will be paid exactly as per the roster, so it is in your interest to ensure your shifts and leave details are correct
It is good practice at the end of each shift to ensure you know when you are next rostered
Prior to the roster publication, specific rostering requests can be to the roster co-ordinator. Once the roster has been published, any roster requests must be made to the DEM or Deputy DEM
To better understand your rights and entitlements regarding safe rostering (along with all other matters related to your employment), click on the link below to read the Victorian Doctors-in-Training Enterprise Bargaining Agreement (EBA).

Roster swaps must be with doctors of the same level e.g. intern with intern
Swaps can only occur within the same pay period and must be cost neutral
Roster swaps cannot result in a doctor working more or less hours than originally rostered - shift lengths can be adjusted to ensure this condition is met, but only with the approval of the DEM
The ‘live’ roster is final - if the swap does not appear on the roster, it is not a swap!
The following Award conditions must be met
A doctor must not exceed 75 hours work in 7 consecutive days
2 days off must be consecutive
Doctors must be free from duty for at least a 10 hour break between rostered ordinary shifts

Annual leave needs to be carefully planned in order to provide appropriate staffing at all times
Leave preference forms are requested before the start of term, and you will be notified of approved annual leave details before roster publication
To be able to process leave pay, leave application forms are required to be submitted for each episode of leave, including whilst on external rotations
-
Exam/Study Leave Request forms need to be submitted at least 6-8 weeks in advance
Do not pay for a Course/Conference before a request is approved
Whilst the roster co-ordinator needs to be aware of all leave requests at the earliest possible time, ultimately, these requests require Chief Medical Officer approval
Those sitting exams will take priority at exam times

Please notify the DEM as soon as possible of the need to take Parental Leave as the department may need to make roster alterations to the registrar rotations and arrange backfill
Parental Leave requires a confinement notice indicating the EDC
A Leave Application Form for Parental Leave is also required

Locker keys can be rented from the department PA at the start of your term for a deposit of $50
